Exterior Systems Engineer (Lighting, Vision, Trim/Fascia)

We have an opening for an Exterior Systems Engineer (Lighting, Vision, Trim/Fascia) to work onsite with our client in the Novi/Northville MI area. This is a contract/resident engineering opportunity.

LER TechForce is an industry leader in Automotive manufacturing including aircraft, (HEV, EV and ICE) wheeled vehicles, autonomous systems, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), vehicle electrification, and next-generation control strategies, embedded controls, software, functional safety, and engineering talent. For over 20 years LER has been working with customers across North America to meet their engineering resource challenges.

What You Will Be Doing

The Exterior Systems Engineer (Lighting, Vision, Trim/Fascia) Leads design and development of exterior systems including lighting, glazing, wipers, mirrors, fascia, bumpers, and trim. Owns full lifecycle from concept through launch, ensuring performance, quality, cost, and timing targets.

What You'll Need To Be Successful (Must Haves)

Lead development of exterior systems (lighting, vision, trim, fascia, bumpers)
Define system requirements, specifications, and standards
Manage RFQs, supplier selection, and technical reviews
Direct development of CATIA CAD models, packaging, and system integration
Support validation (DVP&R, DFMEA, testing) and ensure regulatory compliance
Collaborate cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and suppliers
Drive issue resolution, prototype builds, and production launch

Essentials

Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field
Experience in automotive exterior systems development
Proficiency in CATIA CAD (V5/V6) and PLM (Teamcenter preferred)
Strong understanding of GD&T, DFM, and high-volume manufacturing
Experience with product launch and supplier management
