Job Description:\n\nSUMMARY Monitors receiving and shipping traffic/freight for warehouse to ensure customer service levels are met. Ensures efficient utilization of receiving docks and efficient supply of materials to and from contract manufacturers. Oversees all receiving areas of the facility and ensures product is received in a timely manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Creates and maintains records of all incoming shipments, including item descriptions, quantities, and any discrepancies of damage noted during inspection.Ensures daily compliance of the receiving schedule. Coordinates inbound and outbound shipments. Contact carriers, sales reps, vendors, brokers, freight forwarders, etc. when needed.Verifies deliveries according to order and invoices (quantity, quality, price, etc.)Resolves errors and customer complaints and ensures effective corrective measures are put into place.Analyzes and documents system process flow. Recommends and develops better solutions to achieve process improvement and expense reduction. Develops written procedures to document processes and to assist in training.Performs basic computer applications for item inquiry, order organizer, receiving transactions, invoicing, etc. to help process the shipment.Prepares and prints shipping labels corresponding to shipment needs.Assumes responsibility for returning unsatisfactory shipments or receiving replacements.Reconciles inbound deliveries and allocates them to designated location(s). Ensures quality and effective communication between internal and external customers, leadership, and quality. Legibly completes required inspections, written and electronic reports. Actively participates in root cause analysis and other plant continuous improvement initiatives. Recommends and assists with implementing continuous improvement ideas.Complies with safety requirements, GMP requirements, and SOPs/WIs for work area.Maintains a clean and safe work area; updates and replenishes supplies as needed. SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT Supports a culture of safe production and exhibits safe work practices. Actively participates in the safety program by engaging in safety activities. Effectively provides and accepts constructive peer-to-peer feedback on safety performance. Adheres to policies, procedures, SOP’s, and safe work practices. Reports ALL workplace incidents to supervisor immediately. Communicates concerns to supervisor, reports hazards, and provides input on prevention. Properly uses, wears, and stores Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required. Participates on safety teams and/or completes safety-related activities as part of regular job responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Prior experience in manufacturing GMP and distribution environment, preferably food and/or pharmaceutical industry.Knowledge and experience in Code of Federal Regulations (CFR 49). PERFORMANCE ABILITY Strong knowledge of receiving area to make decisions on inbound receivables ensuring orders are received in compliance with SOP’s. Collaborates with other departments and vendors to resolve errors and/or damages. Demonstrated ability to consistently meet quality, safety, and efficiency goals. Excellent critical thinking skills. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively communicate with team members from various departments. Demonstrates high quality of work. Strong time management skills: ability to prioritize and calmly manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet targets in a demanding environment. Demonstrates a keen sense of urgency and flexibility to change tasks frequently based on business needs. Leads by example, acts as a role model on the floor, and models NOW’s core values and tenets. Demonstrates ability through certification to work as a Material Handler I or Material Handler II. LANGUAGE SKILLS Effective verbal and written communication skills (ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.) Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions regarding operational procedures. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences. Collaborates with cross-functioning teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives with both internal and external customers. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percentages. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESPromotes teamwork, possesses a good attitude, exhibits flexibility and a willingness to perform tasks. Must be a self-starter, demonstrates strong initiative and works well independently. Ability to collaborate with others, multi-task and have the ability to meet deadlines, work in a demanding environment and ability to travel between facilities. Ability to operate and earn certifications in various PIT (Powered Industrial Trucks), such as Dock Stocker, Order Picker, Turret, Sit down Forklift and Reach trucks.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Oracle required.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends to support the business needs. Employee must regularly lift, move (in some cases drag items), slide, raise and/or place: Pallets weighing up to 55 lbs. from floor onto one side, move up to 10 feet and return to original position.Loads pallets on order picker by lifting up to 25 lbs. from waist to waist height with 90 degree turn.Up to 34 lb. box from shoulder level to 75 inches and then perform transfer of 15 lb. stacking from 6 inches to 60 inches.Lifts up to 75 lbs. bags and/or boxes from 5 inches off the ground up to 46 inches high and return to original position.Hold and squeeze to 50 lbs. and then pull one end at a 32-36 inch table and wrap around a box and then unwrap.Opens and closes overhead dock doors and trailer doors. Pulls down with 70 lbs. of force from 75 inches and pulls up with 70 lbs. of force from 9 inches. Moves pallet jacks by pushing and pulling with force of 42 lbs. at 36 inch height. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Works in all areas of NOW’s manufacturing facilities with direct exposure to ingredients (powders and liquids), mixes (powders and liquids), equipment, and packaging. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud, and in some areas where louder hearing protection is required.
