Last day to apply Full Time Role Summary This position involves supporting the FAA by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network infrastructure critical to aviation safety and operations. The role requires managing IP-based networks, including routing, switching, security, and fiber optic systems, across a regional area. The successful candidate will work from a designated location and travel throughout the region to support multiple sites, ensuring network reliability, performance, and security. Responsibilities Maintain the uptime, performance, and security of FAA network infrastructure. Install, configure, and support routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems. Support SD-WAN deployment and health across distributed environments. Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cabling, including single-mode and multi-mode fibers. Conduct fiber testing using OTDR and certification tools to ensure quality and performance. Monitor network systems daily, analyze logs, and respond to incidents, escalating issues as necessary. Troubleshoot complex network issues across fiber, SD-WAN, and IP layers to restore optimal performance. Support network cutovers, migrations, and validation of failover procedures. Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and configuration records. Respond to and resolve network incidents to minimize downtime and impact. Qualifications This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required. Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or equivalent (e.g., Master's with 6+ years, Associate's with 10+ years, or GED with 12+ years). Proven experience managing enterprise network environments supporting large-scale systems. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP). Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar network devices and technologies. Experience with TDM-to-IP migration projects and modern IP-based networking systems. Solid understanding of SD-WAN, fiber optics, wireless LAN/WAN technologies. Familiarity with firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios). Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and technical schematics. Experience with fiber testing tools such as OTDR. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
