ARDMORE ELEMENTARY- LONG-TERM SUBSTITUTE

SPEECH & LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (October, 2026 December, 2027)

Certification Requirements & Qualifications

• Must meet all State certification requirements in the selected area
• Experience with or the ability to implement components of co-teaching within the context of effective instruction and positive behavior management support
• Experience working with students to support learning
• Ability to successfully pass a background check

Required Skills

• Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, and colleagues
• Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
• Good organizational and problem solving skills
• Self-directedness and initiative when given a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
• Possess physical abilities sufficient to employ physical intervention strategies when necessary, i.e. non-violent crisis intervention techniques
• Knowledge of special education laws, rules and regulations.
• Ability to conduct MET and IEP team meetings that are parent friendly and legally compliant.
• Knowledge of speech/language development and pathology necessary to identify communication disorders and to develop appropriate programs and services for speech and language impaired students.
• Ability to provide evidence-based research to support recommendations
• Ability to work and effectively communicate with administrators, staff, agencies, medical provider, students and their families.
• Effective time management skills, self-directedness and initiative when given a variety of responsibilities and assigned tasks.
• Ability to make decisions and problem solve within a team of service providers.
• Have knowledge and/or experience with the MTSS process.
• Enthusiastic and takes initiative

Responsibilities

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
