The mission of all Tops associates is to adhere to the Tops vision of providing a friendly neighborhood store that saves the customer time and money. Bakery clerk must possess reasonable knowledge in storing, preparing, and maintaining bakery products. Clerk is responsible for slicing, pricing, and packaging product, as well as maintaining shelves, cases, and displays. Clerks are also responsible for setting an example in providing attentive and courteous customer service.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Following all Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company policies regarding Bakery operations, safety, and sanitation
• Maintaining proper shelf/display conditions through cleaning, straightening, and rotating products
• Adhering to company policy through proper processing, preparation, and packaging of product
• Taking customer orders accurately for cakes or other specialty items as needed
• Completing all necessary paperwork relating to Bakery Department
• Maintaining a clean as you go policy
• Maintaining adequate supplies
• Minimizing shrink through proper handling and storing of product

Minimum qualifications include:

• Must be at least 16 years of age and 18 years of age to perform certain functions/tasks
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions
• Possess basic computer skills
• Possess strong communication skills

Physical requirements include the use of the following equipment:

• Mixer (must be 18 years of age)
• Oven (must be 18 years of age)
• Fryer (must be 18 years of age)
• Proofer
• Pallet Jack (must be 18 years of age)
• Pan washer (must be 18 years of age)
• Slicer (must be 18 years of age)
• Baler/compactor (must be 18 years of age)
• Jelly pump
• Ladder (must be 18 years of age)
• Knife/Box cutter (must be 16 years of age)
• Computerized label machine
• Computer
