Job Description

The Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community.

Responsibilities include:

• Reporting incidents involving residents to appropriate individuals
• Maintaining knowledge of all policies and procedures
• Assisting residents with activities of daily living
• Performing housekeeping duties
• Responding promptly to resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts
• Remaining calm and competent during emergencies
• Assisting in planning and conducting activity programs for residents
• Following confidentiality policies regarding resident information
• Assisting residents to and from the dining room and activities
• Checking on residents, ensuring attendance at meals and activities
• Checking on ill residents and reporting status or concerns
• Communicating verbally and in writing to report resident status and community information
• Assisting new residents with move-in transition and providing emotional support
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Requirements include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Successfully completed approved personal care aide program
• Effective communication skills
• Organizational skills and ability to work well with all levels of personnel
• Contributing member of nursing team and follow instruction of supervisor
• Polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs
• Safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics
• Designated uniform during working hours, including name badge
• CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire
• Represent the community in a positive and professional manner
• Attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings
• Willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays
