Conditions of employment adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year. General Summary Under general supervision, evaluates needs of children within the school system. Assists with delivery of programs to enable children to attain maximum achievement and adjustment. Essential Functions Supports and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One towards increased outcomes for students. Interacts, communicates and collaborates with all stakeholders effectively. Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive working and learning environment. Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities. Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information. Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required. Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions; provides for safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment and materials. Conducts psychoeducational evaluations to identify child's needs, limitations, and potentials as required by state and federal regulations; reviews school records, consults with parents and school personnel; interprets and writes results of psychological tests as a psychological report. Counsels students individually and in groups using various techniques and methods to assist students to achieve personal, social, and emotional adjustment. Advises teachers and other school personnel on methods to enhance school and classroom atmosphere to provide a positive educational environment. Consults with parents, school personnel, and district personnel regarding methods and techniques of appropriate interventions for academic and/or behavior problems. Serves as a member of the placement committee for special education students. Contacts and consults works with appropriate agencies, psychiatrists, private psychologists, physicians and others involved in the educational process of students. Participates in leading professional learning activities. Serves as consultant for crisis intervention activities. Serves as a member of the student intervention teams, RtI teams, 504 teams, and IEP teams in the schools to which they are assigned. Refers students and their families to special programs, specialists and community agencies when appropriate. Meets with parents, teachers, and administrators as needed to discuss student performance, activities, problems, etc. Supervises activities of assigned psychology intern and practicum students. Prepares various records and forms such as psychological reports, clinical notes, Medicaid forms, etc. Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required. Selects, requests, and maintains an inventory of instructional aides, technology tools, equipment, and supplies needed for daily activities; provides for safe storage and proper use of all materials, tools, and equipment. Effectively uses personal technology devices and software applications for the management of pertinent information and communication. Uses general office equipment to perform daily activities. Performs other related duties as required. Supervisory Responsibility Responsible for acquiring needed testing equipment, manuals, etc. Supervises students in counseling and testing situations. Other Skills and Abilities Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Lexington County School District One Board policies. Must be able to access reliable transportation. Personal computer experience required. Strong knowledge of word processing, e‑mail, spreadsheets, electronic file management, the internet, and reporting and presentation software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to apply knowledge and current research and theory. Ability to organize and implement a flexible work schedule in order to meet reporting deadlines. Ability to self‑monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group. Ability to submit all requested reports and documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with scheduled deadlines. Some extended hours and multiple demands from several people are frequently required of the employee. Computer literacy required. Knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the school district which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and operations. Extensive knowledge of Business English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and mathematical computation. Knowledge of psychological methods and techniques to help students in need. Knowledge of and ability to administer psychoeducational tests available. Knowledge of and ability to perform statistical analysis and data interpretation. Ability to identify student adjustment, personal, emotional, and/or academic problems, provide counseling and/or recommend appropriate action to parents. Knowledge of specialists, programs and community agencies as referral options. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques. Ability to provide training, instruction, and guidance to assigned psychology interns, practicum students, and support personnel. Knowledge of the records and reports which must be prepared and maintained. Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy in exercising duties. Ability to anticipate work to be completed and complete work without the need for direct supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and student records and information. Ability to demonstrate high level application of technology devices in the performance of daily activities. Ability to demonstrate proper maintenance, safe operation and utilization of equipment, materials and supplies used in daily activities. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, colleagues and all other stakeholders involved in the activities of the job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision. Occasionally the position requires the employee to work irregular or extended hours. Duties of the job require frequent use of a computer monitor and related equipment. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day. Duties are performed in an office setting with no significant exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Requires ability to perform duties that require tight deadlines, interpretation of tests, and counseling students. Physical demands include work requiring occasional lifting/moving of items weighing up to fifty pounds, such as lifting and carrying psychoeducational equipment.
