Bilingual Paraprofessional (Autism Program)

Location: Joliet, IL

Term: 2026/2027 School Year

Hours: Full-Time | 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Pay Rate: $26.00 / hour

We are hiring a dedicated, Bilingual (Spanish/English) Paraprofessional to support our elementary school Autism program for the upcoming school year. This role focuses on assisting students with mild to severe needs in a structured, supportive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional, behavioral, and communication support to elementary students on the autism spectrum.

• Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention strategies under the guidance of the lead teacher.

• Utilize bilingual skills to support Spanish-speaking students and facilitate clear communication.

• Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment adapted to varying levels of need.

Requirements

• Language: Must be fully bilingual in Spanish and English.

• Experience: Strong, highly relevant experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or managing significant behavioral/developmental needs is strictly required.

• Licensure: Must hold an active Illinois Paraprofessional License (ELS-PARA) OR be willing to immediately apply for the Short-Term Approval for Paraprofessionals upon an offer.

  Note: The short-term approval requires a High School Diploma or GED and is a very quick, straightforward process through the ISBE ELIS system.
