Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position available in Bakersfield, California, at a designated healthcare facility. This role involves providing acute care to typical ER patients, including stroke and MedSurg Tele health holds. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day. The position offers an opportunity to work in a busy, teamwork-oriented environment with a focus on emergency patient care.

Job Details:

• Location: Bakersfield, California
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of ER nursing experience
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required
• Shift: 12-hour shifts from 1:00 PM to 1:30 AM, every other week, including weekends (4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule; weekends are Friday/Saturday for nights and Saturday/Sunday for days)
• Schedule: Self-scheduling with management finalization; schedules are for 4 weeks; shift minimum of 36 hours per week
• Additional information: Charge nurse, shift manager, and resource nurse roles available; float rotation between two facilities may occur with a 2-hour prior notice; floor-specific orientation includes 2 shifts at primary campus and 1 shift at secondary campus.
• Patient Care: Managing typical ER patients, including strokes and occasional MedSurg Tele holds. The facility is a Primary Stroke Center and maintains a 'care first' approach for psych holds, rarely holding '5150 psych holds' longer than 12 hours.
• Teamwork: Must be very teamwork-oriented and committed to primary ER responsibilities.
• Clinical environment: Telephonic Philips vents, in-house hospitalist or intensivist, 24/7 RT and pharmacy services with Omnicell, and Cerner charting system.
• Other: 2 shift-specific orientations, and call policy requiring report within 30 minutes if on standby or call.

Required Qualifications:
Certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS; minimum of 3 years ER nursing experience; licensed healthcare professional in California; available to work 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week; experience managing high patient volumes and teamwork skills.
