About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Department RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ER Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required; will consider candidates with 1.5 years of Level 1 experience. License: NM license can pend at time of submission. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC (must have TNCC prior to submission). Must-Have: Level 1 trauma experience preferred. Description: No holiday request time off for December starts. Must work Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day for holiday pay. No long-term holiday request time off is allowed. Travelers should expect their assignments to include primarily admitted patients. No RQI certifications accepted. Travel experience is strongly preferred; however, if the traveler has 2+ years of Level 1 experience, consideration may be given. Shifts may be 36 or 48 hours; 48 hours applies only to travelers with both Level 1 and travel experience. Approximately 60%-80% of the Emergency Department consists of admitted patients. Many of the ED rooms function as "ED Holding." Medication administration includes IV medication via the seven medication rights. Clinical findings need to be documented and communicated effectively. Patient ratios in the Emergency Department are typically 1:5. Travelers will be scheduled for weekends as needed. Weekend days constitute Saturday and Sunday, while weekend nights are considered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Floating to other areas may be required based on staffing needs. Floating to Adult PCUs is an expectation; this may include patients requiring Med Surg care. Travelers without MOAB certification must pass an in-person MOAB training during orientation week. A 6-month break is required after working 4 consecutive assignments or reaching the one-year mark, whichever comes first. The facility is a Level 1 Trauma and Teaching Client. Total staffed beds are 554. Additional unit information includes interdisciplinary support from various services. Travelers should be prepared for an increased number of admit holds and should have trauma/resuscitation experience.
