Principal Software Engineer

The engineer will have an opportunity to work on a large scale system and interesting engineering problems. In this role the Engineer will be working on a state of the art cloud platform using Kubernetes and Spanner among other cloud technologies, and will help build and enhance micro-services powering the SAAS platform. This role also provides opportunities to explore and adopt new technologies.In this role you will get to:Participate in mission critical projects with direct impact on the evolution of Priceline's businessBe part of a cross-functional agile team that continuously experiments, iterates and delivers on new product objectivesShowcase your development skills of Core Java or similar programming languagesApply system design skills in implementing micro-servicesArchitecture using cloud native solutions.Apply your programming skills towards building low latency and high throughput transactional services with continuous integration and automation testingApply your experience working on various SQL and NoSQL technologies in implementing data solutions backing the micro-services.Utilize your knowledge to understand our codebase, systems and business requirements to effectively make changes to micro servicesEffectively collaborate and engage in team efforts, speak up for what you think are the best solutions and be able to converse respectfully and compromise when necessaryWho you are: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field10+ years of experience in software engineering and development Successfully has mentored, influenced and coached developersCoding experience with Core Java or similar programming languagesGood knowledge and experience working on SQL and NoSQL technologies.Comfort and experience with Spring Frameworks, Web Services and API’sExperience in micro-services, Kubernetes and containers is a big positive.Experience with developing on Cloud GCP environmentDemonstrated history of living the values important to priceline: Customer, Innovation, Team, Accountability and Trust.
