Open Rank Associate Professor/Professor in Data Science Position: Open Rank Associate Professor/Professor in Data Science within the Brain Health Institute at Rutgers Biomedical & Health Sciences (RBHS), Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS). Responsibilities Develop all data‑related aspects of a well‑phenotyped dementia risk cohort. Ensure robust data analysis protocols. Lead a federally funded, data‑driven research program in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Collaborate on manuscripts using cohort data. Oversee collection, curation, and management of clinical, genetic, imaging, digital, and biomarker data. Develop predictive models and algorithms for risk factors, disease markers, and therapeutic targets. Implement machine learning models to improve prediction, diagnostic accuracy, and monitoring of disease progression. Contribute to grant proposals and compete for extramural funding. Mentor, train, and develop staff, post‑doctoral fellows, junior physicians, students, and collaborators. Job Requirements Experience in advanced statistical and machine learning techniques. Ability to develop and lead independent federally funded research with a record of successful grant proposals. Understanding of informatics infrastructures, high‑performance computing, cloud, and secure computing environments. Experience developing cross‑platform, user‑friendly applications for large‑volume heterogeneous data processing and integration. Knowledge of learning health systems and clinical data extraction, loading, and de‑identification. Academic credentials qualifying for Associate Professor or higher at Rutgers, including extramural funding and peer‑reviewed publications on Alzheimer’s disease. Record of multidisciplinary collaboration and mentorship of early‑stage investigators. Strong interest in implementing the new cohort and contributing to cutting‑edge science. Excellent written and oral communication skills for academic and non‑academic audiences. Qualifications Minimum qualifications: Ph.D., MD, MD/Ph.D., or equivalent terminal degree in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Neuroscience, or a related field. Active federal funding is required. Preference for NIH‑funded investigators at Associate Professor level or above; superb young investigators with NIH funding are also considered. Physician‑scientists are encouraged but not required. Strong expertise in data analysis and machine learning across diverse data types (clinical, genetic, imaging, digital, blood biomarker). Desirable: Cultural and language competency and/or experience working with underserved communities.
