Child Peer Support Specialist

Join our team at Behavioral Services of Louisiana, LLC, as a Child Peer Support Specialist. In this role, you will be a part of our Family Support Organization, reporting to the Director of Operations and supervised by the Support Specialist Supervisor. Your primary responsibility will be to provide individual peer support services to children in the community, helping them develop social skills, manage psychiatric symptoms, and improve their overall functioning. Responsibilities

• Provide individual Peer Support Specialist services in the community.
• Assist clients in developing treatment goals within the first 30 days of service.
• Help clients restore, rehabilitate, and develop social and interpersonal skills.
• Identify and enhance support networks, community awareness, and coping strategies.
• Assist in the development of daily living skills.
• Help clients manage the negative effects of psychiatric or emotional symptoms.
• Assist clients in identifying and responding to triggers that lead to functional impairments.
• Implement Peer Support Plan on an ongoing basis.
• Participate in collaborative meetings with Behavioral Health Services staff and other community supports as needed.
• Communicate clients' status regularly, including changes in mood or functioning, medical issues, and all crisis and health and safety issues.
• Produce effective, clinical documentation of every contact with recipient.
• Attend all office trainings and regular clinical supervision sessions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Self-identify as a current or former consumer of mental health services.
• Demonstrate a minimum of 6 months in self-directed recovery within the last year.
• Self-identify as a first degree family member.
• Ability to use computer interface to complete documentation for billing or other purposes as needed.
