Patient Care Tech II - Medtele

Overview The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. A PCT’s responsibility includes measuring and documenting vital signs. They identify patient concerns and report them to colleagues. They move, turn, or relocate patients as required for comfort and medical needs. The PCT should demonstrate patience, empathy and intuition to serve patients, and have strong communication and organizational skills to interact with the Manager and Charge Nurse and relay issues to Care Team Members. Responsibilities Measure and document vital signs as part of patient care Identify patient concerns and report them to colleagues and the care team Move, turn, or relocate patients to support comfort and medical requirements Communicate effectively with the Manager, Charge Nurse, and Care Team Members Minimum Training and Education A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required At least 1 year of patient care work experience in a health care facility or as a Certified Nursing Assistant is preferred Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations Basic Life Support required upon hire Maintain current BLS through an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or AHA-recognized equivalent, or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider Physical Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing stairs, and sitting (various frequencies enumerated in the original) Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted and to lift/lower objects from/to floor or from/to 36 inches unassisted Ability to perform repetitive motions, reach overhead, and operate in a latex-safe environment Good vision and hearing with or without correction; color perception and depth perception Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required Additional Job Description Minimum Requirements: At least 1 year of PCT experience (0.6 FTE) at MUSC CHS or 1 year of patient care experience in a health care facility; or a college degree, or active nursing school enrollment with completion of Nursing Fundamentals; or active enrollment in a healthcare-related field; or Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant training Credentials: BLS required within 2 weeks of hire and ongoing If you like working with energetic, enthusiastic individuals, you will enjoy your career with us!
