• Pay Rate: $310,000 - $435,000 Per Annum

Job Role

A leading law firm is seeking a mid-level to senior Associate to join its established Tax practice in Houston, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded attorney with a strong transactional background to work on complex matters and deliver high-quality, commercially focused advice to a diverse client base. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical capabilities, sound commercial judgment and a commitment to providing an exceptional standard of client service.

Job Description

The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:

• Advise clients on the tax implications of complex corporate and commercial transactions.
• Support the structuring, negotiation and execution of mergers and acquisitions, investments and other strategic transactions.
• Analyse and advise on federal, state and local tax considerations arising from transactional matters.
• Conduct detailed tax research and prepare clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice.
• Draft and review transaction documentation, tax provisions and related legal materials.
• Collaborate with colleagues across corporate, private equity, finance and other practice groups to deliver integrated client solutions.
• Identify and assess tax risks, developing effective strategies to address complex legal and commercial issues.

The Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:

• Qualified attorney with a J.D. from an accredited law school and a strong academic record.
• Associate-level experience consistent with a 2018–2022 law school graduation year.
• Strong transactional tax experience, ideally gained within a recognised law firm environment.
• Demonstrable experience advising on the tax aspects of corporate transactions.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, research and problem-solving skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate complex tax issues into practical advice.
