Staff Cardiologist – Beckley VA Medical CenterLocation: 200 Veterans Ave, Beckley, WV 25801Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm | Inpatient & OutpatientAptive is seeking a full-time Cardiologist to support a rewarding opportunity with the Beckley VA Medical Center in Beckley, WV. The Beckley VAMC is a Joint Commission–accredited, complexity level II facility serving Veterans across 11 counties in southern West Virginia.Position OverviewThe Cardiologist will provide comprehensive cardiovascular care across inpatient, outpatient, Emergency Department, and ICU settings. This role includes diagnostic evaluation, management of acute and chronic cardiac conditions, test interpretation, and coordination of care during hospitalization and discharge. The provider will collaborate closely with hospitalists, emergency physicians, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality, evidence-based cardiac care. This opportunity does not require call coverage, weekend work, or holiday responsibilities.Primary ResponsibilitiesAssist with emergency cardiac care for life-threatening conditions such as cardiac arrest.Provide consultations for Emergency Department, inpatient, and ICU patients.Provide daily progress notes and support discharge planning.Document and coordinate patient transfers to higher levels of care.Conduct and interpret EKGs, phonocardiograms, echocardiograms, Holter monitors, and exercise stress testing.Diagnose cardiovascular conditions using clinical history, imaging, test results, and exam findings.Explain procedures and discuss diagnostic results or treatments with patients.Monitor and reevaluate patient progress throughout episodes of care.Order cardiac testing including stress tests, echocardiograms, EKGs, Holter monitoring, and cardiac catheterization consultations when indicated.Prescribe cardiovascular medications and recommend surgical interventions when appropriate.Provide consultations within the ICU and ED for critically ill cardiac patients.Supervise and educate medical students, residents, and advanced practice providers.Participate in cardiology peer review activities.Work Environment & ScheduleSetting: Inpatient and outpatient care at the Beckley VA Medical CenterHours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.Call: NoneWeekends/Holidays: NoneTravel: Not requiredTelemedicine: Not allowedSupport: Collaborative nursing and administrative staffCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on federal physician pay structure (base + market pay)Eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) up to $200,000Comprehensive federal benefits package including:Health, dental, and vision insuranceFederal retirement programs with matching contributionsPaid federal holidays and paid annual leaveContinuing education support and malpractice coverageRetention incentives may be available for highly qualified applicantsMinimum QualificationsMD or DO degree from an accredited institutionCompletion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency with board eligibility or certification in CardiologyCurrent, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territoryFederal DEA licenseBLS certificationProficiency in spoken and written EnglishDesired QualificationsBoard-certified CardiologistExperience with advanced cardiac imaging or willingness to trainExperience supervising trainees or advanced practice providersStrong collaboration skillsAbout AptiveArrow ARC supports Veterans Health Administration facilities and offices across the U.S. with health care staffing and program support via the 10-year Integrated Critical Staffing Program (ICSP).
