Job Description: Production Manager / Field Supervisor Bilingual — English & Spanish A-1 Testing — Truckee/Tahoe & Surrounding Regions About A-1 Testing A-1 Testing is a locally owned and rapidly growing water, sewer, and septic system service company in the greater North Lake Tahoe and Washoe Basin areas. Position Overview The Production Manager serves as the on-site leader, responsible for ensuring all work is executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standard. This role oversees daily field operations, manages crew performances, upholds quality control across all projects, and ensures company standards are consistently met. A key responsibility is maintaining clear communication between the field operations, our clients, and the office so all jobs are properly documented, tracked, and billed accordingly. All production team members report directly to the Production Manager, who is responsible for accountability, conducting daily briefings, co‑leading safety meetings, and verifying each project meets A-1 Testing’s standards before the team leaves the site. This position works closely with our operations coordinator to support scheduling, documentation, and continuous process improvement, and reports directly to the owner. As a growing company, we are actively developing and refining our systems and processes. Key Responsibilities Crew Management & Accountability Direct field production teams daily — the production teams report directly to you, not to the owner. All daily feedback, production, and accountability flows through you Coordinate with the Operations Coordinator on crew scheduling — operations coordinator manages the master calendar, you provide input on who’s best suited for which jobs based on skill, equipment needs, and field conditions. Assign daily work and ensure every crew member understands the scope, expectations, and quality standards for each job Assist in project layout and coordination in the field for new project layouts. Hold crew members accountable for showing up on time, following procedures, and completing work to standard Handle conflict resolution and performance conversations in both English and Spanish Verify and collect timesheets daily — complete, accurate, with correct job codes — and submit for payroll processing Provide direct feedback and coaching to crew members on quality, efficiency, and procedures Production Quality Control Conduct on-site quality checks on all active projects- verify workmanship meets A-1 standards prior to invoicing Verify completed work is accurately communicated to customers and office staff for invoicing. Ensure work complies with district‑specific regulations [NTPUD, TSD, IVGID, Washoe County, Sierra County, Nevada County, Placer County, etc.] Inspect job sites for safety, cleanliness, and professionalism Catch and correct quality issues in real time rather than on callbacks Crew Meetings & Safety Run daily job briefings with the crew each morning — assignments, expectations, and any special instructions for the day Lead weekly crew & safety meetings — review performance, reinforce standards, address issues, communicate priorities, and enforce on‑site safety standards on every job Use meetings as the primary tool for accountability — consistent expectations, consistent follow‑through Project Execution & Technical Coordination Collaborate with crews on project layout, grading, and execution approach for each job Ensure proper equipment and materials are on‑site before work begins Perform or oversee septic inspections, pressure tests, camera diagnostics, and system evaluations Support installation and repair work including pipe replacement, tank access, and leach field repairs Troubleshoot field problems and escalated to the owner when issues exceed your technical knowledge Complete or oversee blueprint takeoffs and materials ordering on larger projects Operate excavation equipment safely and efficiently (training available if needed) Field‑to‑Office Communication Close the documentation loop on every job: deliver complete job folders to the office — materials used, hours worked, job details, photos, and issues encountered Communicate real‑time updates on job progress, delays, and scope changes throughout the day Flag material costs and unexpected expenses immediately — not after the job is finished Report daily to the Operations Coordinator on jobs completed, jobs in progress, and what’s needed tomorrow Enforce material receipt coding — every receipt gets a job number before it leaves the supply store Process Enforcement Enforce company SOPs and procedures in the field on every job, every day Ensure crew members use required forms, checklists, and documentation tools Provide feedback on what’s working and what isn’t — help fine‑tune processes based on real field conditions Maintain accurate field notes, measurements, and photos for project documentation Qualifications Required Fluent in Spanish and English (spoken is required; written Spanish a plus) 2+ years of experience in construction, utilities, plumbing, septic, or related fields with crew leadership experience Proven ability to manage field crews — assign work, hold people accountable, give direct feedback, resolve conflicts Strong client communication and customer service skills Valid driver’s license with clean driving record Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions Comfortable working in a growing company where systems are still being built — you’ll be enforcing new processes, not inheriting polished ones Strongly Preferred CDL (Class A or B) — this is a significant advantage. If you don’t have one, A-1 will pay for CDL training if obtained within your first year Experience with septic systems, sewer laterals, or water system diagnostics Equipment operation experience (mini‑ex, skid steer, etc.) Familiarity with local district requirements (NTPUD, TSD, IVGID, etc.) Ability to read site plans and interpret technical documents Compensation & Benefits Competitive starting hourly base pay: $34.00-38.00/hr + semi‑annual performance pay bonuses/ incentives.
