Responsibilities as the Medical Collections Specialist: Claims Submission: Accurately prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies in a timely manner. Error Resolution & Rebilling: Resolve billing errors, work queue edits, and process unbillable or rebill requests. Insurance Verification & Account Updates: Verify patient benefits (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial) and update demographics and balances. Customer Support: Handle inquiries from patients, insurance carriers, and internal teams with professionalism and efficiency. Compliance & Documentation: Maintain HIPAA compliance, request medical records as needed, and report reimbursement issues to management. Qualifications for the Medical Collections Specialist: Experience: 3+ years in medical billing, claims processing, or insurance verification, with preferred exposure to medical records and payer systems. Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows-based systems, with experience navigating billing platforms and claims management software.
