Registered Nurse III

Overview The Massachusetts Mental Health Center is seeking a talented and experienced Registered Nurse III to join a diverse team of mental health providers at a state-operated community mental health center. The role provides direct nursing care, medication administration, assessments, treatment planning, psychosocial support, crisis intervention and oversight of clinical nursing services. Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care, including injection administration, medication distribution, vital sign monitoring, nursing assessments, and comprehensive metabolic screenings. Follow medication administration and monitoring protocols. Schedule follow-up appointments and submit billing encounter forms on day of service. Update lab ordering system and notify medical‑records departments of insurance or demographic changes. Assist prescribers with medication refill requests, facilitate clinical documentation for insurers, and obtain prior authorization as needed. Conduct outreach and engagement to promote medication adherence and monitoring. Educate patients on medication adherence, side effects, and interactions. Supervise nursing staff: plan duties, evaluate capabilities, assist skill development, complete formal employee evaluations. Review medical records and observe nursing care to ensure compliance with physician orders. Support the center’s goals, promote the psychiatric rehabilitation model, and participate in organizational committees. Analyze data to determine resource needs of patients and the clinic. Collaborate with internal and external providers to ensure timely access for DMH clients. Maintain current medical records for all clinic clients and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions. Required Qualifications Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Capacity to perform basic mathematics. Ability to gather information through observation and questioning. Effective communication in oral and written form, with logical sequencing. Skill in interacting with emotionally stressed individuals and maintaining a calm demeanor during emergencies. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with individuals with serious, persistent mental illness, substance abuse, and/or homelessness. Bilingual or multilingual fluency. Employment Information Full‑time (40 hours per week), first shift, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, in person, Saturdays and Sundays off. Mandatory overtime required. Salary: $90,304.24 – $150,686.38 per year. Position is part of bargaining unit 07‑MNA – Professional Health Care.
