Packaging Engineer

Talascend is currently seeking a Packaging Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Burton, Michigan .


Overview


The main function of a packaging engineer is to design and release packaging material specifications. A typical packaging engineer is responsible for improving packaging design and material specifications through research and testing.


Responsibilities

• Perform projects to reduce packaging material, processing, distribution, and damage costs
• Resolve complex product and packaging issues
• Develop and apply graphic design elements and product identification standards for packaging materials
• Coordinate packaging requirements with plants, other departments, sources, and customers
• Stay current on new technology and new developments
• Apply high quality network/synchronous organization and lean strategies to achieve process improvement and promote teamwork

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in packaging or other related technical area
• 5-7 years of experience required
• Expert knowledge of testing, design, packaging processes
• Knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well with a team
• Ability to partner with senior management to analyze and solve issues
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to create blueprints and technical drawings
