Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Clinical Stroke Coordinator is responsible for the education of stroke patient and to assure quality patient care. To coordinate the efforts of the hospital in order to meet the needs of the patients and the customers. To increase the quality of patient care by educational and QI programs. To provide expert knowledge, leadership and education for individuals within the hospital for stroke. To develop educational programs to enhance the staff’s knowledge of current trends in nursing. To develop, implement and maintain a quality improvement process for the stroke patients in our hospital. To perform chart audits for quality improvement of documentation and risk reduction, in order to maintain and/or improve patient outcomes. . To collaborate and assist the Nursing Director in developing and implementing projects that enhance the quality of the hospital for stroke.

What qualifications you will need:

  • REQUIRED LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION

    1. BCLS,

    2. RN Licensed in State of Texas or compact State Nursing License

    REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    1. Nursing Associate Degree, Diploma Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree Required

    2. Experience as RN in Critical Care, Med-Surg., Orthopedic Surgery

    PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

    1. Preferred experience as RN in Critical Care, Med-Surg., Orthopedic Surgery

    2. ACLS certification within 6 months of employment for new GN’s/RN’s.

    3. Effective communication skills; both orally and written.

    4. Computer skills; i.e. word processing systems used by Del Sol Medical Center.

    5. Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care.

    6. Strong problem solving skills (Critical Thinking Skills).

    7. Ability to move an excess of 100 pounds, with assistance from other staff.

    8. Knowledge of general hospital operations
