Job Description Summary Under general supervision, the Adjunct Assistant Professor will develop, prepare and teach Surgical Services coursework and may be assigned to SF's main Northwest campus or at any of the program's clinical affiliate locations. Additionally, course offerings may be taught during the day, evening, or online. This position will primarily teach laboratory and clinical courses in Surgical Services. The part‑time instructional service rate for Information Technology Education, Biotechnology, Central Sterile Processing Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Dental, Medical Imaging, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Care, Surgical Technology, Graphic Design and Digital Media programs is $986. Responsibilities and Duties Plan, organize and deliver instruction to didactic, laboratory, and classroom settings to promote student success. Support and promote college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning. Collaborate with the Academic Chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop lesson plans for didactic, laboratory and clinical experiences. Coordinate, implement and evaluate the clinical education component of the curriculum, maintain clinical affiliate contracts and student rotation placements. Demonstrate technological literacy and innovation in instructional delivery. Work collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team and assist with implementation of college policies. Provide students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback using formative evaluations. Document student progress and maintain records of attendance, grading and learning outcomes. Correlate clinical education with didactic education and evaluate student performance. Maintain appropriate office hours and assist the Program Director with preparing reports. Maintain current knowledge of the discipline and educational methodologies through professional development. Participate in student recruitment, advisement and program advisory committee work. Honor privacy and security of student records and comply with all college rules, procedures, and regulations. Provide service excellence through courteous, informative, and professional engagement. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited surgical technology education program. Hold a credential in surgical technology from a national certification program accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies. Have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the operating scrub room role or as a surgical technology instructor within the past five (5) years. Persons approved as didactic/clinical faculty under previous ARC/STSA standards will remain approved. Background check required. Preferred: Candidates with teaching experience in an accredited surgical technology program. General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to work successfully in a multicultural environment.
