Paramedic Position at Genesis Healthcare System

The purpose of this position is to respond to emergency situations and provide skilled emergency and non-emergency services in a variety of areas including emergency medical and rescue operations, advanced medical assistance, directing ambulance and first responders in patient care services, mentoring, training, quality improvement, public education, and recruitment. The incumbent would provide supervision and care of patients in the pre-hospital environment including the utilization of monitor/defibrillators, numerous medications, endotracheal intubation, IV therapy, and other associated tasks; perform critical basic and advanced life support procedures according to medical protocol; and perform independently in situations involving both basic and advanced life support activities.

Essential duties include directing subordinates, administering basic and advanced life support, safely operating emergency ambulances, attending classes to maintain currency with emergency medical services practices, assisting in the rescue and extrication of victims, communicating with medical personnel and treatment facilities, reporting incidents, ensuring controlled substances and medications are secure, adhering to safety and contamination policies, maintaining confidentiality, performing maintenance duties, operating emergency vehicles at a safe speed, documenting reports, checking and restocking equipment, and participating in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, successful completion of an accredited paramedic program and State of Ohio certification, a valid state driver's license, and certifications such as BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ASLS. Additional qualifications for MICU Paramedics include two years of paramedic experience, participation in continuing education, and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification.

Working conditions and physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, push, pull, bend, and walk for extended periods, lifting and moving various weights, and maintaining vision abilities. Employees must be willing to work all shifts, extra hours, holidays, and emergency shifts as required.
