Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced remote centered environment with variety in your work? The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Supervising Insurance Compliance Officer with experience in handling, supervising, and adjusting property or casualty insurance claims.

Under general direction of the Bureau Chief, the Supervising Insurance Compliance Officer plans, organizes and directs the activity of all staff engaged in resolving and responding to consumer requests for assistance specific to claims handling practices. They develop, implement and provide training plans for staff development; assist in establishing Bureau policy and processes; enforce consistency of operations within the Bureau; take responsibility for the most complex and sensitive projects as assigned; and represent the Bureau at meetings and industry functions as directed by the Bureau Chief. The Supervising Insurance Compliance Officer maintains appropriate professional relationships and exercises managerial objectivity with staff.


During times of emergency, incumbent may be required to serve, in a lead capacity, at Local Assistance Centers (LAC) to assist the public during and after emergencies. This may require travel by vehicle, airplane or other means, and may require overnight stays and extended shifts.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700), which includes an Assuming Office filing within 30 days of appointment, annual filings, and a Leaving Office filing within 30 days of physical separation. Non-compliance with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may result in the voiding of appointment, financial penalties, or enforcement actions.

PLP 2025 requires employees to receive a reduction in pay in exchange for monthly hours of PLP 2025 leave credits. Working Conditions

• The incumbent must be able to work in a high-rise building.
• Routine travel is required within and/or outside the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e. automobile, airplane, etc.). Travel may include overnight stay. During times of emergency, incumbent may be required to serve, in a lead capacity, at Local Assistance Centers (LAC) to assist the public during and after emergencies. This may require travel by vehicle, airplane or other means, and may require overnight stays and extended shifts.
• Ability to move objects up to 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.
• The incumbent may telework in accordance with CDI's Telework Policy. Teleworking employees may be required to report to their headquarters office location on designated telework days.
