Field Property Claims Adjuster – Farmers Insurance – Mankato, MN This position is a field role that requires travel to policyholder homes. Candidates must reside in the Mankato, MN area and may use a company vehicle and laptop. Starting wage is $26.98 per hour or higher, with additional compensation determined by experience and transferable skills. Field Property Claims Adjuster – Responsibilities Conduct virtual and on‑site investigations by visiting policyholder residences to assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate loss extent, and negotiate fair settlements. Use claims handling software and a laptop to determine damage and write estimates in a paperless environment. Evaluate and report potential subrogation opportunities. Report incidents involving theft, fraud, or arson to appropriate state and industry agencies. Perform duties independently, impacting management outcomes. Act as a company representative in public interactions, maintaining professional demeanor consistent with management standards. Engage regularly with stakeholders, including policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, fraud investigators, attorneys, and medical professionals. Use strong customer service skills to negotiate settlements. Perform additional duties as assigned. Candidate Requirements High School diploma or equivalent required. Excellent customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment. Construction or insurance experience is highly desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer literacy: MS Word, Excel, Outlook. Proficiency with smartphones and applications. Eagerness to learn about insurance policies and property damage. Outgoing personality for interacting with a diverse range of individuals. Valid driver’s license and bondable; candidate will undergo a motor vehicle record background check. Bilingual candidates (Spanish & English) may be eligible for additional pay. Additional Requirements Climb ladders and inspect roofs, multiple times per day. Work in small, confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces. Achieve a minimum passing score on all claims training exams. Physical Actions & Environment Bending, kneeling, pulling, pushing, sorting, carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing, reaching, standing, walking. Reading, writing, speaking (English), key‑entering.
