Safety Specialist

Required Skills & Experience
• \tMinimum 3 years of construction safety experience\n o\tFederal, mission critical, or large civil commercial experience works (Residential experience will not work)\n•\tOSHA 30 \n•\tWorking knowledge of EM 385-1-1 preferred\n•\tExperience with field inspections, AHAs/pre-task planning, subcontractor oversight, corrective actions, excavation, heavy equipment, lifting, traffic control, and similar field hazards

Job Description

The Safety Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Project Engineers with the day-to-day implementation and enforcement of project safety requirements. This individual will spend the majority of their time in the field actively monitoring construction activities, identifying potential hazards, and working with subcontractors and field teams to maintain a safe jobsite.\n \nDay to day:\n•\tMaintain an active presence in the field, observing ongoing construction activities and identifying potential safety hazards or unsafe work practices.\n•\tConduct routine jobsite safety inspections and document observations, deficiencies, and corrective actions.\n•\tWork directly with subcontractor crews and field supervision to ensure compliance with project safety requirements and established safety procedures.\n•\tMonitor high-risk construction activities and verify appropriate safety controls and PPE are being utilized.\n•\tAssist with daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, pre-task planning, and job hazard analyses.\n•\tSupport the investigation and documentation of safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.\n•\tTrack identified safety deficiencies and follow up with field teams and subcontractors to ensure corrective actions are completed.\n•\tAssist with maintaining required safety documentation, inspection records, reports, and other project safety materials.\n•\tReinforce a proactive safety culture by coaching field personnel and addressing unsafe conditions before they result in incidents.\n•\tProvide additional field coverage as construction activities expand across different areas of the project.
