Job Title: Sanitation Associate

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize all assigned areas inside and outside the manufacturing plant, including production floors, equipment, machinery, and general grounds.

• Follow and adhere to all food safety standards, including GMP and HACCP principles, to maintain a safe and compliant production environment.

• Operate plant touch screens and follow Clean-in-Place (CIP) procedures to clean and sanitize processing equipment effectively.

• Use cleaning tools such as squeegees, mops, brooms, hand and floor scrapers, and paint brushes safely and correctly to remove debris and residues.

• Read, understand, and follow labels and instructions on cleaning products and sanitizers to ensure proper use and handling of chemicals.

• Perform janitorial and custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and general housekeeping tasks throughout the facility.

• Support sanitation for both food production and non-edible product areas, including food manufacturing lines and chemical or essential oil production areas as assigned.

• Communicate effectively with production and sanitation team members to coordinate cleaning activities in a fast-paced, production-based environment.

• Follow all plant safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and steel-toe footwear, to prevent accidents and injuries.

• Work independently and as part of a small sanitation team to complete daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning tasks on schedule.

• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in compliance with food safety, GMP, and sanitation requirements, including proper handling of waste and cleaning materials.

• Assist with special cleaning projects or deep cleans of equipment and production areas as needed.

Essential Skills

• 2–3 years of sanitation experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.

• Experience in sanitation, janitorial, custodial, or cleaning roles with strong job tenure.

• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a production or food manufacturing environment.

• Familiarity with HACCP principles and food safety requirements.

• Ability to follow and execute Clean-in-Place (CIP) procedures using plant touch screens.

• Proficiency in using cleaning tools such as squeegees, mops, brooms, hand and floor scrapers, and paint brushes.

• Ability to read and understand labeling on cleaning products and sanitizers, including safe handling and usage instructions.

• Experience working in fast-paced, production-based environments with frequent communication and coordination.

• Capability to work independently within a small sanitation team and manage assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

• Physical ability to perform industrial cleaning tasks, including standing, walking, and handling cleaning equipment for extended periods.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belcamp, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
