Job Overview

The Project Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing pre-bid take-offs, estimating, project initiation, coordination, cost analysis, and management of heavy civil projects within public sectors. The aim is to achieve or surpass budgetary, scheduling, and quality objectives. This position also involves handling special projects and technical engineering tasks that enhance the effectiveness of the Construction Division.

Salary Information

$110,000 - $150,000, depending on experience. This is a salaried, exempt position.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct precise and timely quantity take-offs utilizing AGTEK, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and manual methods.
• Implement project controls to ensure adherence to contracts, quality standards, budgets, schedules, job costing, and forecasting.
• Interpret plans and specifications accurately; prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) promptly for additional details.
• Process and distribute submittals as necessary; procure specified materials in a timely manner to align with project schedules and budgets.
• Provide technical engineering support, including AutoCAD drawings, engineering calculations, and field layout.
• Document production metrics, generate reports, and forecast project needs as required.
• Schedule and oversee subcontractors and service providers to meet project timelines.
• Estimate and manage a high volume of projects simultaneously, ensuring all metrics are met or exceeded.
• Balance responsibilities between fieldwork and office tasks regularly.
• Assist other estimators and project managers as needed to meet critical deadlines.
• Guide and mentor Project Engineers for their professional growth and advancement.
• Adhere to OSHA regulations, including accident investigations, safety meetings, and training; actively promote safe practices among employees.
• Foster collaborative relationships with all departments to achieve work objectives.
• Create an environment that encourages open communication within the project team.
• Demonstrate commitment to the organization's core values.
• Develop and manage all phases of Water Pollution Control Plans (WPCPs), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), and Traffic Control Plans.
• Assist the Superintendent with material procurement, equipment rentals, and resource dispatch.
• Support special projects as needed.

Educational Background

A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

• 10-20 years of experience in estimating and managing multiple heavy civil projects.
• Strong leadership skills to teach, mentor, and inspire others to achieve exceptional results.
• A keen desire to learn and excel in the Heavy Civil field.
• Proven ability to lead effectively and communicate clearly.
• Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational capabilities.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, AGTEK, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and scheduling software.
• A valid driver’s license and the ability to commute to work.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Bridge Construction, Earthwork, and HMA Paving.
• Proficiency in GPS technology.
• Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software.
• Familiarity with SAP.
