Senior Program Specialist, Special Education

Job Summary The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a Senior Program Specialist, Special Education for the South County SELPA department of the Student Services and Programs division. The job of Senior Program Specialist, Special Education is done for the purpose/s of facilitating and coordinating services to individuals with exceptional needs; assisting SDCOE and districts in evaluating the effectiveness of programs for individuals with exceptional needs; providing information and serving as a resource to support staff, teachers, classified staff, and administrators; and developing and assisting with the implementation of policies and procedures related to special education at the SDCOE and district levels.
This is a part-time position (.2 FTE) and will work approximately 3 days per month. This position is not eligible for health and welfare benefits and will participate in the CalSTRS state retirement system.
This position will be supporting Coronado Unified School District. The schedule offers some flexibility in terms of which day, however, the member district requests that the same day be maintained each week to ensure consistent availability for IEP meeting participation and collaborative planning. The current vacancy will assist in the coordination of assistive technology strategy, guide AT assessments and reporting, support training initiatives, evaluate tech resources for student accessibility, and provide expert consultation to enhance educational experiences for students with disabilities, aligning with program goals and compliance standards.

The South County SELPA coordinates special education program development and student placements for more than 13,000 students from birth through age 22. We operate in the southern region of San Diego County and member districts include the elementary and high school districts of Coronado, Chula Vista, National, San Ysidro, South Bay, Sweetwater and SDCOE programs. - Copy of one of the following valid California Credential(s) issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
- Education Specialist Credential, or
- Pupil Personnel Services Credential in one of the following:
- School Psychology, School Counseling, Social Work, or
- Clinical Rehabilitation Services Credential (preferred) , or
- Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential, or
- equivalent document
- Copy of Valid California Administrative Services Credential (preferred)
- Copy of transcripts verifying master's degree (or higher) in special education, education, educational administration, or closely related field
- Any certifications you would like considered
