Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Activities Assistant to join our team! The Activities Assistant is responsible for assisting the Activities Director with a program of activities at the community. The Activities Assistant has the ability to communicate effectively and advocate for Elder centered/directed care to team members, families, physicians, allied health professionals, and the at-large community.

Responsibilities:

• The Senior Living Activities Assistant participates in activities with residents of the community.
• The Senior Living Activities Assistant maintains department activity logs and documentation.
• The Senior Living Activities Assistant understands, practices, and communicates resident directed/centered care on a daily basis as it relates to the activities department.
• The Senior Living Activities Assistant plans activities as directed by the supervisor.
• The Senior Living Activities Assistant works with the resident and family councils.
• The Senior Living Activities Assistant has the ability to direct and supervise volunteers.
• The Senior Living Activities Assistant helps with Dietary if requested.

Physical requirements of this position:

Lift and/or carry - Up to 30 lbs - Frequently

Lift - Up to 50 lbs - Occasionally

Assist with resident transfer - Occasionally

Reach above, at & below shoulder height - Frequently

Push/Pull - Up to 50 lbs - Frequently

Sit, stand, walk - Intermittent throughout the shift

Twist, bend, crawl, squat, kneel, crouch - Intermittent throughout the shift

Hand manipulation: grasp, handle, torque, finger on controls & equipment - Frequently

Hear, talk, see, taste, smell - Constantly

Summary of Potential Occupational Exposures:

Bloodborne pathogens - Direct contact with:

Blood, urine, feces, vomitus, wound exudates, semen/vaginal secretions, cerebrospinal, synovial, pleural, peritoneal, pericardial

Various office products and cleaning chemicals

Temperature changes moderate exposure

Specific Tasks Creating Potential Exposure: - General resident care/activities involvement

Handling soiled linens and clothing

Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid drivers license, class E drivers license and have a good driving record.
