Division Within the SFF Department at ELMHS, located in Jackson, LA. This posting may be used to fill other RN vacancies within ELMHS. The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric care are coordinated with the total system of care in Louisiana. ELMHS is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the Nursing Department as a Registered Nurse . Here, you will provide needed services, direct patient care, and develop a nursing plan of care for patients on the assigned unit. Qualifications & Licensure Requirements Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse. One of the following: two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; a bachelor's degree in nursing plus one year of experience; a master's degree in nursing or public health plus one year of experience; or a doctorate in nursing or public health. Job Duties Provide direct patient care and develop a nursing plan of care for patients on the assigned unit. Assist physicians with patient examinations and record patient data according to policy/procedure—preparation and administration of medication per the physician's orders, for both medical and psychiatric reasons. Assist other professional personnel in developing and maintaining a therapeutic environment and improving patient care. Review medications/supplies stored in the medicine room for expiration dates. Count/document-controlled drugs with the incoming shift and account for their use during the shift. Disinfect/clean surfaces and equipment to ensure that infection control standards are met in the medicine room and examination room. Initiate or respond to hospital codes and demonstrate the ability to provide nursing assistance appropriate to code situations. Assist and/or conduct patient care groups conducted by staff, monitor patient accountability sheets, and make unit rounds every 2 hours to ensure patient observation is maintained according to policy and procedure. Communicate verbally and in writing with pharmacy and central supply personnel. Maintain open and accurate communication with department personnel; report incidents, accidents, or injuries to supervisor and document on appropriate forms; report patient abuse/neglect immediately, ensuring patient safety. Position Specific Details Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional Schedule: 8 Hour Compensation This position has an SER of $34.17 per hour or $2,733.60 bi-weekly for RN 3. This position is eligible for the following premium pays (per hour physically worked): Facility Longevity – Starting at $2.00 Recruitment/Retention – $10.00 Recruitment/Retention – $2.00 This position qualifies for shift differentials, with rates varying based on shift time, day of the week, and holidays.
