SVC Dock Supervisor

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Dock Supervisor to oversee daily freight operations, manage teams, and ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance across our service centers. Responsibilities Monitor and evaluate employee safety daily. Assess safe and efficient loading/unloading processes during shifts. Teach and enforce safe lifting techniques. Maintain housekeeping to ensure safety and productivity. Assign and supervise dock employees, ensuring proper utilization of personnel, equipment, and processes. Manage dock work schedules and time‑off requests. Collaborate with Operations Manager and Service Center Manager to align daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly objectives. Provide analysis, suggestions, and ideas for operational improvement. Give continuous positive and constructive feedback on productivity metrics (ROI, MPH, stops per hour, etc.). Handle disciplinary actions as needed. Conduct daily inspections for compliance with local, state, federal, OSHA, and DOT regulations. Ensure 100% of trailers are loaded correctly and inspected for cleanliness and proper techniques. Operate AS400, BLU, DYMS, and other company freight monitoring systems. Complete forklift job training and use forklifts when necessary. Hold daily shift meetings and make informed scheduling decisions. Inspect tools and equipment for safety and report any issues. Maintain compliance with company and government regulations. Work assigned shifts as required, remaining flexible for customer schedules. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent (some college preferred; Bachelor’s degree preferred). At least 2 years of operations experience, preferably in transportation. Preferably supervisory experience. Working knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS, and BLU systems. Knowledge of general DOT regulations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Working Days & Shift Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday AM / PM shifts (days and schedule are guidelines and subject to change based on business needs).
