This is not a typical implementation role. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll be an engineer first; owning deployments end-to-end while working directly with customers to turn messy, high-stakes workflows into production-grade AI systems. You'll operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer success. This is not a typical implementation role. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll be an engineer first; owning deployments end-to-end while working directly with customers to turn messy, high-stakes workflows into production-grade AI systems. You'll operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer success. Shipping real systems, influencing product direction, and helping define a new function inside a fast-growing company. Day to day:
- Architect and ship production-grade systems for strategic customer deployments
- Build backend services, APIs, and integrations for an AI agent platform
- Work directly with customers to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable solutions
- Own deployments end-to-end: design → build → launch → iterate
- Turn edge cases into reusable product features
- Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, and leadership
- 1+ years of software engineering experience (backend-heavy preferred)
- Strong coding and system design fundamentals
- Experience building production systems, APIs, or integrations
- Exposure to AI/LLMs, agents, or workflow automation is a strong plus
- Ability to work directly with customers and communicate clearly
- High ownership, comfort with ambiguity, and fast execution
- Background from a top-tier university or high-signal engineering environment is a plus
- Interest in startups or future founding
- $200K - $330K base + strong equity
- Onsite in San Francisco (5 days/week)
- Fast interview process (can complete within a week)
