St. Lucie Battery and Tire is seeking an experienced Automotive Technician to join our growing team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining cars and light trucks using advanced diagnostic tools and hands on expertise. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical knowledge, experience with both domestic and foreign vehicles, and a commitment to delivering high quality work. Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose and repair automotive systems including air conditioning, cooling, suspension, brakes, ignition, and fuel systems
• Perform routine maintenance and advanced repairs on cars and light trucks
• Use computerized diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues
• Complete accurate multi point vehicle inspections
• Document all repairs and services performed
• Perform quality control checks to ensure repairs are completed correctly
• Road test vehicles after repairs
• Communicate with service advisors regarding repair status, additional work, and timelines
• Operate lifts, jacks, and shop equipment safely and correctly
• Follow proper lifting techniques and safety procedures Required Skills and Qualifications
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Solid mechanical knowledge of automotive systems
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Basic math skills for measurements and service calculations Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of five years automotive repair experience required
• Experience working on domestic and foreign vehicles required
• Strong understanding of vehicle repair procedures and mechanical systems
• Must be authorized to work in the United States Licenses and Certifications
• Valid unrestricted driver's license required
• ASE Certification preferred
• Ability to maintain TIA and ALI certifications with company training Work Environment
• Automotive repair shop setting
• Exposure to noise, vehicle exhaust, grease, and chemicals
• Use of personal protective equipment required
• Regular attendance and adherence to uniform standards required
• Employees must provide and maintain their own tools Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds regularly
• Frequent bending, squatting, and working under vehicles
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Daily use of hand and power tools
