Senior Manufacturing EngineerMoog Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support our Manufacturing Engineering Group at our plant in Torrance, CA. Reporting to our Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will have a 9/80 schedule on-site work in Torrance, CA.As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will perform routine manufacturing engineering work requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. The primary area of responsibility is developing and maturing manufacturing processes for production hardware.Key responsibilities:Performing drawing reviews to ensure the application of DFMA principles.Development of quality based and cost effective manufacturing processes.Tooling design for all operations requiring holding fixtures and / or specialized cuttingPerforming critical analysis during prove out of manufacturing processes, troubleshooting and revising as necessary to achieve the targeted quality yield and efficiency.Legacy Programs and Production Environment:Work with the operations team to support continuous improvement activities in the machine shop during the fabrication of complex parts and sub-assemblies.Reviewing existing manufacturing plans on legacy hardware to ensure compatibility of engineering drawings with fabrication capabilities.Making recommendations for improvements and drawing updates to enhance yield and production, as well as the implementation of Automation, Advanced Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies.Research, specify and purchase capital equipment for additional capacity or manufacturing technology improvements.Coordinate with various departments and team members to assure the most effective design and use of manufacturing facilities and processes.Technical ownership of gear production equipment such as hobbers and shapers, to provide technical support, programming support, troubleshooting, fixture and cutting tool specifications, as needed.To be considered for the role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:Bachelor of Science in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical or a relative engineering discipline with experience in the manufacturing of aerospace manufactured componentsMinimum 7 years of progressive experience in the field of manufacturing engineering, preferably with aerospace cylindrical steel componentsResults oriented team player with effective and strong verbal and written communication skillsStrong knowledge of the following machining processes:TurningMillingOD/ID, Surface, and Jig GrindingFamiliarity with the following Gear machining processes:ShapingHobbingBroachingGear GrindingStrong knowledge of machining properties for various aerospace steels, such as carbon steels, stainless steels, carburizing steels, nitriding steels, aluminum, etc.Moderate knowledge of the following processes:Heat Treatment, including carburizing, nitriding, and core hardeningPlating processes, such as cad plating, zinc-nickel plating, chrome platingNDT: Magnetic particle inspection, Nital Etch Inspection, Hardness Testing.Aerospace Painting processesStrong knowledge of:3D Modeling best practices and principlesGDT, Engineering Drawings Interpretation and creationFixture and Tool DesignInspection methods, tools and best practices for relative hardware (Cylindrical, small to mid-size geared components)Employment of various quality processes, such as 5 Why's and Fishbone diagrams, to perform Root Cause analysis and provide robust Corrective Action for low yield processes and/or non-conforming hardwareIt'd be great if you also had:Master's degree in EngineeringExperience with NX & Team CenterPrevious experience with creating manufacturing processes for aerospace cylindrical components with gears and / or splinesStrong knowledge of gears / splines manufacturing processesStrong knowledge of gears / splines inspection methods and toolsExperience with CMM (Zeiss) inspection methods and reportsPrevious experience in the aerospace manufacturing industry and familiarity with AS9100 requirementsOrganizational and time management skillsHow We Care for You:Financial Rewards: great compensation package, bonus opportunities, matching 401k, and the ability to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Plan (select locations), Flexible Spending and Health Savings AccountsWork/Life Balance: Flexible paid time off, holidays and parental leave program, relocation assistanceHealth & Welfare: Comprehensive insurance coverage including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, Employee Assistance Plan ("EAP") and other supplemental benefit coverages.Professional Skills Development: Tuition Assistance, mentorship and coaching opportunities, leadership development, and other personal growth programsCulture: Warm, respectful, family-like environment driven by our 12 core values. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
