Combined Cycle Plant Manager - Johnston

The Johnston facility is a LFGTE combined cycle facility and fuel pre-treatment facility. The Plant Manager oversees and coordinates activities of plant operations team to ensure that the plant meets performance targets and metrics. The Plant Manager is responsible for ensuring achievement of key operating objectives in the areas of employee safety, employee relations, profitability, unit availability, efficiency, and reliability in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and agreements. The Plant Manager will work as a senior member of a dynamic team of employees who are operating and maintaining fuel pre-treatment and power generation facilities located in Johnston, Rhode Island. The Company relies on the flexibility and innovative skills of its employees to ensure success. While performing the duties of this job, the Plant Manager can be exposed to high voltage electrical equipment with a risk for electrical shock and to moving mechanical parts; hazardous gases and liquids; and outside weather conditions.The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment can be loud in certain areas. Key Areas of Responsibility Provide strong leadership and teamwork while working independently with minimal supervision. Supervise all plant operations-related work, including hiring, scheduling, performance management, and training. Prepare, manage, and submit the annual operating budget. Establish departmental goals aligned with corporate objectives and maintain accurate financial forecasts with the finance team. Provide oversight and direction for mission-critical programs and processes including overall performance, outages, project planning, asset integrity, and financial controls. Ensure full compliance with all environmental permits issued by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) and other applicable regulatory agencies. Advise senior management on environmental compliance matters and monitor pending regulatory changes affecting facility operations. Maintain familiarity with all permit requirements and ensure required testing and documentation are completed and submitted on time. Provide timely resolution of equipment breakdowns and manage scheduled and unscheduled production variances. Develop work schedules, assign work, and monitor progress to improve process efficiency; verify and approve staffing payroll. Prepare status reports, monitor business performance, and update operational plans to meet annual budget targets. Communicate daily with the Operations Management team to ensure safety and facility reliability. Assist in investigations of accidents, injuries, or property damage. Operate equipment when necessary to maintain business continuity. Monitor operational efficiency and redirect activities as necessary to achieve performance goals. Assist operations and maintenance teams in developing predictive and preventive maintenance processes. Foster a culture that encourages innovation, adaptability, responsible risk-taking, and continuous improvement. Promote productivity and teamwork through open communication and timely decision making; set high performance standards and guide the team to achieve them. Establish responsibilities, goals, and expectations for team members; administer a performance feedback program. Respond to employee inquiries or complaints and coordinate with other departments to resolve issues. Work with HSE, Technical Services, and support teams to maintain safe and efficient operating practices in alignment with corporate policies. Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations Support and comply with Company policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company’s employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors In addition to the duties set out above, the Plant Manager may be expected to perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Company Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline preferred. In lieu of a degree, 15+ years of power facility operations experience (electrical generation, gas processing, or landfill gas-to-energy) with demonstrated technical capability. Five years of experience in a comparable industry preferred. Experience with Solar – Taurus 60 Gas Turbines is a plus. Knowledge or experience in the waste industry is preferred. Ability to work independently and apply resources effectively to support operational success.
