Project Buyer

Position Overview The Project Procurement Specialist will manage procurement processes for engineering projects, ensuring cost‑effective sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier performance across the GEA supply chain. This role is 100% onsite at either Galesville, WI, or Romeoville, IL (Webers Rd.). Employees based in Romeoville may need to travel to Galesville. Responsibilities Process orders for projects and manage procurement performance objectives and savings. Align project needs with the Project Procurement Manager for larger projects. Manage overall timelines for manufacturing, delivery, installation, and commissioning. Coordinate category‑specific scope with category managers and execute framework agreements. Implement pricing, terms, and conditions under category strategy while considering project needs. Perform supplier selection, new supplier identification, and tactical negotiations for project scope. Prepare agreements and contracts on a back‑to‑back basis, addressing cash flow and commercial risk. Manage RFQs, target project savings, and award decisions in line with category strategies. Handle claims with suppliers throughout the project lifecycle. Monitor supplier performance and report to procurement stakeholders. Maintain supplier data systems and onboard new suppliers. Communicate with suppliers on demand, volume, delivery, and commercial terms. Resolve supplier issues such as quality, delivery, and service concerns. Key Accountabilities Follow set processes and perform repeating tasks. Deliver within established procurement strategies. Provide suggestions for improvement within scope of work. Share lessons learned from projects with categories. Implement industrial standards and best practices. Realize cost and cash saving potential. Control spend and drive demand reduction. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, or related field, or equivalent experience in project procurement. 5+ years of experience in procurement. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and drawings for project purchasing. ERP (SAP) / procurement key‑user experience. Knowledge of international contract management.
