Clinical Inpatient Surgery Specialist - The Jewish Hospital

Overview The Clinical Information System Specialist (CISS) is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating materials and resources to ensure accurate patient surgical billings, surgery scheduling, statistical and/or financial analysis. Responsibilities Develops and maintains on-demand ad-hoc reports. Develops, collects, and monitors statistics as requested. Assumes role of charge entry as needed with a high degree of accuracy. Ensures all patient charge sheets are received and entered correctly and timely. Notifies Perioperative Leadership of any problems and seeks clarification as needed. Collaborates with Supply Chain to resolve interface issues and ensure proper charge reconciliation. Assumes role of secretary and/or scheduler as needed. Accurately schedules avoiding conflicts. Notifies Perioperative Leadership of add-ons, cancellations, and changes to the schedule. Provides ongoing, first-level application support, completes daily, monthly, and yearly close functions, and prepares appropriate reporting. Maintains confidentiality of patient data including medical history and diagnosis. Safeguards sensitive internal information both verbal and written. Assumes responsibility for professional growth, stays updated on current trends in computer systems and related fields by networking with peers. Participates in department performance improvement.
