Referral Specialist

The Referral Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of the patient referral process including coordinating and completing referrals ordered by providers; acquiring and verifying third party information for referrals; obtaining referral appointments; and tracking referrals.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education: Basic College Courses

Minimum Work Experience: 6 months Scheduling Rep experience

Required Licenses/Certifications:

Required Skills; Knowledge; and Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical practice protocols related to scheduling referrals and testing.
• Knowledge of manual/ computerized scheduling systems.
• Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques.
• Knowledge of insurance and ability to obtain prior authorization.
• Skill in communicating effectively with physicians/ clinicians about referrals/radiology.
• Ability to multitask effectively; dealing with phone calls; in-office patients; staff and others pleasantly with calm and clear communication in all circumstances.
• Ability to flexibly respond to changing demand and plan; organize and prioritize accordingly.
• Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
• Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
