The Marketing Segmentation Specialist 1 position exists to be responsible for finding the right people to whom we will send these emails and therefore will be trained at creating lists from SQL queries on relational databases. This person will provide list extraction, segmentation, suppression, quality control, and source code mining in support of multi-channel marketing campaigns all while meeting deadlines. This person will also provide support for the data infrastructure needs and identifying best practices mining data for the Marketing Segmentation team. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Develops and maintains an understanding of ministry constituent and marketing productivity data structure Is current on data management trends and provides valuable insights on how best to serve up audience segments for ministry communications Manages a complex marketing list schedule and delivers consistently on-time, accurate lists Develops and provides details for selection plans as outlined by the manager or project owner, develops selection recommendations independently and through brainstorming discussions Can follow complex cultivation and drip campaigns Coordinates with Email teams to ensure end to end processing of lists Creates audience segmentations through SQL coding in relational databases Develops a growing understanding of constituent demographic and transactional data and able to understand list requests for omni-channel segmentations Other Duties/Responsibilities Understands software utilized by the ministry (Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, Aprimo, SSMS) Is responsible for ensuring lists accurately reflect businesses preferences, as well as constituent communication preferences Keeps supervisor up to date on all efforts Performs other duties as assigned Working Environment/Physical Requirements Able to do 80-90% desk/computer driven tasks JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Character/Spiritual: Exemplifies Ephesians 5:1-2, “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children and walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us...” Pursues the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Focus; adheres to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith; upholds Focus on the Family's ministry in prayer. Personal Characteristics: Proven ability to accept responsibility, follows through, and meets deadlines Good ability to communicate clearly in spoken English and through charts / reports Proven ability to think logically and work methodically Desire to learn, improve, and ask questions, commitment to excellence Motivated and feels an appropriate sense of urgency, notifies manager when has time available to accomplish more Knowledge/Experience: Required Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Decision Sciences, Marketing, Math, Finance or Business; or equivalent experience 1-3 years of experience with complex relational databases Basic knowledge of SQL Preferred Data Warehouse Management knowledge Working knowledge of SQL Basic knowledge of SOQL Familiar with omni-channel marketing trends and tools Ability to work with data segmentation/campaign list management, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Team Membership: Learns from and provides learning opportunities for members of the Marketing Segmentation team to advance knowledge, skills, and expertise of the whole team.
