Physician - General Cardiology Opportunity

Ascension is adding a physician to our growing cardiology practice. The position is full time and will be based at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. This job location is currently located in a Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) and/or Medically Underserved Areas/Populations (MUA/P) Shortage Designation Type.

Ascension Saint Thomas Heart is part of a regional referral center with a modern facility built in 2010 and a newly-renovated 16 operating room suite. The hospital is centrally located in the fastest growing county in the state of Tennessee on a beautiful 68-acre campus on the bustling "Medical Center Parkway" corridor with convenient access to dining and shopping areas. The hospital campus is currently undergoing a $110M expansion project, which includes the addition of 36 new high acuity beds, a parking garage dedicated to hospital employees and physicians, 18 new critical care unit beds, six additional NICU bassinets, 17 new post-surgery bays. Saint Thomas Health and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) have an established partnership in Middle Tennessee for training medical residents in a variety of specialties including internal medicine, family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and general surgery.

Responsibilities include evaluating and treating patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills, coordinating discharge planning with case management, recommending, participating in, and working to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients, accepting patient referrals from other physicians, acting as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, participating in academic programs as requested, providing appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements, and participating in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

Minimum requirements include licensure/certification/registration as a Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners, and education as a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO).
