Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - COTA - Inpatient

Location: Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV) Shift: Days (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Worker Type: Regular Exemption Status: No Job Summary Documents patient care and results of treatment appropriately in the medical record to comply with policies and procedures of the department and regulatory agencies. Responsibilities Assist the Occupational Therapist with evaluation, directing, planning, and providing Occupational Therapy treatment for patients of all ages. Adhere to unit-specific standards of care, clinical guidelines, and protocols in rendering patient care. Assist with assessments established by unit standards and address the physical, social, and psychological needs of patients and families. Complete assessments on all admissions and discharges. Assist in formulating a plan of care based on identified patient problem areas in conjunction with the patient, family, and other health care team members. Administer treatments according to priority and department procedure. Evaluate effectiveness of therapy interventions and revise the plan of care based upon patient response or lack of progress. Coordinate and provide patient care, discharge planning, and patient and family education through initiation and participation in care conferences. Provide education and instructions to the patient and family specific to the patient's needs and individual treatment program. Thoroughly document standardized assessments, reassessments, treatments, response to treatment, discharge summary, patient and family education in a timely and accurate manner. Provide for patient equipment and therapy needs when applicable after discharge. Make patient assignments in collaboration with other team members; direct and alter assignments in response to changes in patient situations. Utilize patient and employee occurrence and incident reports. Interpret and follow policies and guidelines to define procedures and meet goals and deadlines. Requirements Associate's Degree – Occupational Therapy (Required). Minimum of 2 years related work experience (Preferred). Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant – National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT) (Required).
