Overview

We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our team supporting at Joint Base Andrews, MD.

Vulnerability Management to support the Air Force National Capital Region IT Services program. The AFNCR IT Services program provides support services for information systems for Headquarters Air Force (HAF), Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other Air Force activities within the AFNCR, missions to include the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), and other locations, leased spaces, and alternate sites. The major support areas required are IT Operations and Maintenance; Plans, Projects, and Engineering and National Military Command Center (NMCC).

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Under minimum supervision designs and coordinates the installation and acceptance testing of the system network.
• Monitors network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options.
• Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network; performs cost/benefit studies of network configurations and recommends enhancements; directs acquisition, installation, and testing of network
  hardware; advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations; and isolates, resolves, or circumvents network problems.
• Monitor data or infrastructure system networks for various messages, alarms, or issues.
• Identify issues or problems and resolves as appropriate; escalates when
  necessary.
• Troubleshoot problems using scripts and standard, routine procedures;
  escalates as appropriate.
• Initiate resolution as appropriate for enterprise level routers and switches.
• Interface with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during
  network outages or periods of reduced performance.
• Process Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI's) as directed by management.
• Maintain required security posture on all network equipment in accordance with DoD and local command mandates and requirements, including updates, STIGs, IOS upgrades, and other basic network security requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Active DoD Secret clearance required.
• Active 8140 IAT Level II (Advanced) certificate
• Active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) /Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security certification
• CompTIA Security+CE or higher DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification must meet 8140 ISSM role qualification.
• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5+ years of related experience, additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Expert knowledge with LAN switching, including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP), Port Security, Spanning Tree, and Layer 2 and 3 switching configurations.
• Expert knowledge with Layer 3 routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, etc.) and best practices on implementation.
• Expert knowledge with L1/L2 network troubleshooting (Unclassified and Classified)
• Expert knowledge of DoD network and application security hardening requirements
• Experienced with programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting encryption devices at network points of presence
  including management via GEM-X or other DoD management tools.
• Experienced with DoD COMSEC management processes and procedures

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experienced with Cisco ISE and Cisco DNA
• Knowledge of Air Force, Pentagon, and/or AFNCR
• Experienced working at the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB)

WAGE INFORMATION

Target salary range: $100,000.00 - $115,000.00. The salary range displayed is an estimate only and is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, and will be determined on several factors regarding the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract parameters and organizational requirements. The displayed salary is one component of the total compensation package for employees.
