About the Position

Job Title: Anesthesia Technician Profession: Allied Anesthesia Tech Specialty: Anesthesia Tech Duration: 1 year contract Shift: Days - Monday to Friday Hours per Shift: 8 hours (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM) Experience: Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician License: BLS preferred (American Heart Association ONLY) Certifications: Certification by a nationally recognized professional certifying body preferred Description: Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia. Prepare anesthesia equipment prior to the patient's arrival. Place anesthesia monitors and ensure the cleanliness of anesthesia equipment. Ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and supplies. Set up medications and supplies where applicable. Continuously communicate with anesthesiologists, residents, and anesthesia technologists. Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and the placement of central line catheters. Operate the cell-saver machine and keep track of lab reports. Participate in advanced surgical cases including cardiac, liver transplant, and trauma. Provide primary support in ensuring that the anesthesia equipment is in good working order. Complete preventive maintenance on anesthesia equipment. Set up and operate sophisticated equipment and perform advanced troubleshooting. Serve as a key resource person in using and maintaining specialized equipment. Assist in developing and implementing in-service training programs. Train staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist. Perform anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting. Test infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors. Calibrate anesthesia machines and attach fiberoptic bronchoscopes to the video monitor. Set up rooms between cases and provide full service setup at the end of the day. Work with other units to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment. Perform setup and support of ectopic procedures for anesthesia care. Provide backup to the shift supervisor in their absence. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
