Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to adult psychiatric patients in a detox unit, ensuring safety, assessment, and effective management of detox symptoms. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support patient stabilization and transition to next care phases.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients experiencing detox symptoms, monitoring vital signs and clinical status.
• Administer medications and perform phlebotomy and EKGs with precision and adherence to protocols.
• Perform routine safety checks, room checks, and patient rounding every 15 minutes to ensure safety and compliance.
• Document care accurately in the Allscripts EMR system and communicate observations effectively to team members.
• Assist with activities of daily living, blood glucose checks, and direct patient observation as needed.
• Support nursing staff with duties such as vitals, weights, and ensuring patient safety during transfers and care.

Qualifications:

• Active nursing license with strong experience in MedSurg or similar acute care settings.
• Current BLS, ACLS certifications; PALS preferred.
• Valid phlebotomy and EKG skills, with prior experience performing related procedures.
• Ability to assess and manage detox symptoms in adult psychiatric patients.
• Familiarity with Allscripts or similar EMR systems.
• Must have de-escalation training (Handle with Care, TRUST, CPI, PMCS, Moab) before starting.
