Senior Engineer, R&D

Senior Engineer, R&D position within Johnson & Johnson's MedTech Surgery division focused on breast implants and tissue expanders. Lead cross-functional teams in device design, development, and manufacturing while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead conceptualization, design, and development of new medical devices for commercialization
- Conduct and analyze system, device, component, and material testing per laboratory best practices
- Drive verification and validation activities through regulatory clearance and design transfer
- Collaborate with clinicians, marketing, manufacturing, and regulatory teams on product innovation
- Manage external partners and vendors to meet project timelines and requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, or Chemical Engineering or related discipline
- 2–4+ years progressive experience in medical device R&D or related technical roles
- Ability to translate user and patient needs into design specifications and validated devices
- Experience with design verification, validation, and regulatory clearance processes
- Proficiency in technical and design review coordination
- Up to 10% travel capability
Compensation: $92,000–$148,350 base
