Job Summary Title: UH Assistant Baseball Coach Position Number: 0077064 Location: Baseball, University of Hawai'i at Manoa Employment Type: Full Time, Temporary Job Number: 2026-01220 Conference: NCAA Division I Duties and Responsibilities Assist with all aspects of the NCAA Division I Baseball Program, including student recruitment and development, on‑field coaching, contest scheduling, compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules, student‑athlete academic achievement, and other duties assigned by the Head Coach. Assist and participate in practices and intercollegiate competitions; teach necessary skills from basic fundamentals to advanced techniques and team strategies. Promote and foster a positive team environment, appropriate behavior, and sportsmanship among team members; be responsible for the conduct of team members on and off the field. Promote and maintain an environment where the physical, mental, social, and academic well‑being of all student‑athletes is a priority. Assist with identifying, evaluating, recruiting, and selecting qualified prospects capable of competing academically and athletically; actively seek out and encourage a diverse group of prospects and assist them through the application process. Work collaboratively with Compliance, Student‑Athlete Services, and Academic staff to qualify and process prospects efficiently and timely. Maintain contact by telephone, write correspondence, conduct off‑campus visits and evaluations, and coordinate visits as assigned by the Head Coach. Assist in scouting opponents, including the exchange and analysis of film. Assist with overseeing the academic progress and success of student‑athletes; encourage academic achievement as measured by eligibility, retention, and graduation. Assist the Head Coach in analyzing statistical information to enhance team success. Actively participate in fundraising, promotional, and public‑relations activities for the sports program. Perform the duties of a Campus Security Authority as defined by University policy and federal law with regard to the Clery Act. Participate in sports clinics, exhibitions, and camps as approved. Maintain collaborative relationships with administrators, coaches, other college offices, media, donors, and individuals interested in the sports program. Maintain confidentiality of information, files, and records in accordance with federal, state, and University of Hawai'i policies. Know, recognize, and comply with University, NCAA, and applicable laws, rules, and regulations; immediately advise the Director of Athletics or designee if violations appear likely. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university. At least one (1) year of experience coaching baseball at the college or university level; or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Knowledge of baseball as played at the collegiate level. Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to interpret and present information accurately in writing, verbally, and through reports and materials. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders, members, and individuals. Ability to work outside normally scheduled hours, including day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts as directed. Ability to travel with the team as required. Ability to work with all segments of the University of Hawai'i community and the general public. Ability to work cooperatively with people of diverse backgrounds. Ability to travel independently to various locations in a timely manner; must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. First Aid, CPR, and AED certification by employment start date. Competency with computer, cell phone, and social media technology. Desirable Qualifications Division I baseball coaching experience.
