Role Overview The Director of Pattern & Print Design owns STAUD's print, graphic, and illustrative direction across RTW and Accessories, from initial concept through production-ready execution. Reporting to the Senior Director of Design, this role sets the seasonal print vision and acts as the strategic bridge between Accessories and RTW to ensure the print and graphic point of view is cohesive, elevated, and thoughtfully developed across the brand. Own the seasonal print and graphic direction for RTW and Accessories, ensuring a cohesive, on-brand point of view across categories. Set the creative vision for original artwork, prints, and graphics, utilizing both analog (paint, pencil, pastels, collage, pen & ink, etc.) and digital means. Partner with the Senior Director of Design, RTW and Senior Director of Design, Accessories to align print concepts with overall collection direction each season. Build and maintain a print and graphic archive/library that reflects and evolves STAUD's visual language. Present print concepts, boards, and finished artwork to the Creative Director and senior leadership with clarity and confidence. Oversee workflow and prioritization across all print, graphic, and illustration projects to ensure on-time delivery against the design calendar. Foster a collaborative, high-output studio culture that balances creative exploration with production discipline. Execution & Production Oversee management of the graphics/illustration workflow, including execution, upload, edits, and creation of print-ready files and formats. Ensure proper handover of print and illustrative artwork to Product Development and Technical Design, confirming prints are engineered correctly for placement, repeat, and colorway. Partner with Product Development and mills/vendors on strike-offs, lab dips, and print quality approvals to ensure prints translate accurately from concept to garment. Ensure all prints and graphics meet cost, timeline, and quality standards across both RTW and Accessories. Cross-Functional Collaboration Act as the connective link between Accessories and RTW design teams, ensuring print and graphic direction is cohesive and thoughtfully developed across the board. Collaborate with the CRM/DTC graphic design team to ensure print-derived graphics remain consistent with STAUD's brand identity and Corporate Identity guidelines. Partner with Production and Technical Design to confirm feasibility of print execution within given timelines and budgets. Conduct high-level research, gather references, and stay current on print, textile, and illustration trends relevant to STAUD's markets. Explore new print techniques, technologies, and vendors that could elevate STAUD's print offering. Lead special projects, capsules, and collaborations involving print, alongside the Creative Director. Prerequisite Knowledge Skills, and Education: Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Illustration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. 8+ years of print, textile, or graphic design experience, with significant experience in fashion or apparel required. Strong leadership skills Exceptionally high taste level with a strong, confident point of view on print and graphic direction. Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Deep knowledge of print production processes, including repeats, engineered prints, placement prints, strike-offs, and colorway development. Experience working with overseas mills, printers, and vendors. Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate and interact with people of all levels in a confident and professional manner. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure, must be able to multi-task and prioritize work across multiple categories and calendars. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills. Ability to adapt to new situations quickly. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. Ability to work flexible hours as dictated by the needs of business for projects and meetings.
