Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Medicine Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, Weekends, and Holidays required Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience License: Current RN License or current multistate compact RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support certification, PALS certification Must-Have: Level 1 Trauma experience, ability to float to various pediatric units Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with patients and families to share care plans during hospital stays and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Must float to various pediatric units, including surgical, behavioral health, specialty medicine, step-down units, and acute care. Experience with tracheostomy care, high-flow oxygen, and infusion therapies is required. Capable of providing care for low-acuity patients in a neonatal setting, specifically feeder growers.
