Description:
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department will work in a fast-paced environment.
The facility has 140 licensed beds with a focus on various emergency cases.
The average patient census is about 85 patients per day.
Common diagnoses include chest pain, strokes, diabetes, abdominal pain, motor vehicle collisions, hypertension, and mental health issues.
Patient ratios are typically RN: 1:3-4 and LPN: 1:4.
CNA support is available with 2 per shift.
The position requires competency in managing various medications such as Heparin, Insulin, and Fentanyl.
Nurses will participate in unit secretary duties as needed.
Charge nurses may or may not have assigned patients.
Telemetry monitoring and technology usage are part of the responsibilities.
Nurses will be involved in reading cardiac telemetry strips.
The emergency department utilizes an electronic medical record system, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems.
Several types of monitoring equipment, including vital sign monitors and glucose stat strips, are used in the unit.
The unit culture emphasizes teamwork and has many long-term staff members.
Floating within the emergency department and possibly to another location may be required.
